Strikeout Story

AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF STRIKEOUT KING BOB FELLER, INSCRIBED BY HIM

FELLER, Bob. Strikeout Story. New York: A.S. Barnes, (1947). Tall octavo, original green cloth, original dust jacket.

First edition of this autobiography of the Cleveland strikeout legend, with numerous in-text photographs, inscribed, “Best Wishes to George Scheele, Bob Feller.”

Disheartened after being knocked out of the box in Boston, Feller sought his father’s advice: “Pitching baseball is like pitching hay. You just have to stay with it.” Feller struck out 10 the next day. In his career, “Rapid Robert” Feller pitched three no-hitters and logged 2581 strikeouts (18 in one game). Smith 12835. Grobani 8-56. The recipient was probably minor league ballplayer George Scheele.

Book fine, moderate wear to top edge of original dust jacket. A superb, inscribed copy.
