Everitt describes his experiences with hunting “our noblest and most beautiful game bird” and provides information on the bird’s habitat, building blinds, calling turkeys, and using hunting dogs. Owner signature, dated 1935, of renowned animal breeder, sportswoman, and collector of sporting and equestrian books, Elisabeth Ireland Poe (“Miss Pansy”), last of the Hanna heirs and mistress of Georgia’s famed hunting lodge Pebble Hill, touted by Harper’s Magazine as “the best winter resort on three continents.” Beneath Poe’s signature is a note of who gave her the book and the phrase “Please do not borrow.”
