PEANUTS JUBILEE, INSCRIBED BY SCHULZ WITH AN ORIGINAL DRAWING OF SNOOPY

SCHULZ, Charles M. Peanuts Jubilee: My Life and Art with Charlie Brown and Others. New York: Ballantine Books, (1976). Oblong folio, original stiff pictorial wrappers. Housed in a custom clamshell box.

Later edition of this celebration of Peanuts’ silver anniversary, warmly inscribed on the half title, “To George—Happy 24th—Charles M. Schulz,” above an original sketch of Snoopy.

In this treasury of his classic comic strips, Schulz reflects on his life and career, stating, “It really does not matter what you are called, or where your work is placed, as long as it brings some kind of joy to some person someplace. To create something out of nothing is a wonderful experience. To take a blank piece of paper and draw characters that people love and worry about is extremely satisfying. I hope very much that I will be allowed to do it for another 25 years”—and, in fact, he was. Illustrated with numerous photographs and comic strips, including 134 color reproductions of Sunday panels. First published in hardcover the previous year.

Covers lightly rubbed with light toning and soiling. A near-fine copy, desirable inscribed with sketch by Schulz.
